Voorwoord/Preface

Hallo almal,

Vanjaar was ’n baie interessante produksie jaar.

Groete van huis to huis

Hello everyone,

September has flown the coup and harvesting time has arrived in some parts of the Southern Cape. It has been a very interesting year to say the least. The Swartland received well below the long term average rainfall. Even though the season was late and there was poor germination in some areas, the crops looked good at the start of the month. Low or non-existent rainfall during September will surely have an impact on the final yields in this area. The Southern Cape had it slightly better where the rains are concerned, although there are areas that was very dry. There is already talk about canola yields of above 2 tons per hectare in certain areas. That is great and we hope that the other crops will follow suit.

All the best!

Dr Johann Strauss
